‘Put your back into it’ That is what is supposed to be said when someone wants a strenuous effort from you. But in today’s sedentary world its really difficult to keep a good back, let alone put an effort in it.

 

In India & Gurgaon, just 30 years before people used to physically work at least twice of what we work in the 21st century due to comfortable transportation systems. The first step which we take out of our home is into a comfortable car or Ola & Uber. After that, we have our busy office which stresses the lower back & upper back. Back home Facebook & Youtube doesn’t let you use the exercises to take care of the spine. This leads to severe back pain which of course can be avoided by swallowing some pills but that doesn’t cure the root of the problem. After avoiding it for a long time, it leads to various disorders like sciatica, disc bulge, degenerative spine disease, etc.

At least 90% of all people, somewhere in their lifetime have come across back pain especially in the metro cities like Gurgaon, New Delhi, Noida, etc.

The spine is made up of 26 bones stacked on one another from the skull to the lower back, engulfing the spinal cord & providing support to the thorax & lumbar region of the body. The spine itself doesn’t have any strength & uses the lower & upper back muscles to help a person stand erect or bend when desired. when these muscles become weak, all the stress is put on the spine, leading to back pain.

What is back pain?

There are three sections of the spine

  • Thoracic
  • Cervical
  • Lumbar

The weakening of muscles supporting the lumbar area leads to back pain

There are two types of major back pain namely:

  • Upper back pain
  • Lower back pain

How to prevent back pain?

The only solution is lifestyle changes. So,

  • Exercise
  • Get a good pillow
  • Maintain good posture
  • Learn about office ergonomics
  • Have a good sleep
